Natasha Etherington

Student Therapist - Master Level Practicum Student

Natasha Etherington is a dedicated Counselling professional with a diverse background currently studying her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) degree program at Yorkville University. In addition to the MACP program, Natasha has trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Foundry Solution Focused Brief Therapy.  Natasha has a strong interest in CBT, Narrative therapy and family strengthening. Natasha has a strong interest in working with clients with anxiety, depression, children and youth's welfare, parenting, healthy relationships and family and couple strengthening. 

 

Natasha is currently the Supervisor of Youth Mental Health Programs at Foundry Ridge Meadows, a multidisciplinary center for mental health for youth aged 12 – 24, a BC Children’s Hospital initiative. Prior to this Natasha worked for an intensive case management team at RainCity Housing supporting vulnerable people, as Resident Horticultural Therapist (certified at the VanDusen Botanical Gardens) at Langley Lodge Long Term Care working with older adults with dementia and head injuries and at the BBC in the UK.

 

Natasha is a published author; her book is an international seller through Jessica Kingsley publishers entitled “Gardening for Children with ASD and Special Educational Needs”. Natasha wrote this book to take the skills she had learned and share it with other professionals, carers and parents to have a positive impact by engaging nature to combat anxiety, promote sensory integration and build social skills.  

 

Natasha served on the American Horticultural Therapy Board and as Editor-in-Chief of the AHTA quarterly magazine from 2013-2015. Natasha volunteers as a horticultural therapist and at Wagner Hills Farm Shop where products are sold made by participants in recovery.

Natasha finds happiness by spending time with her family, walking her dog, riding her bike and swimming in the beautiful lakes of BC. Natasha can speak fluent English.
