About Andrea
Coming from a country marked by civil disturbance, war, and human suffering, I’ve seen firsthand how psychological wounds can be just as profound as physical ones. Hi, I’m Andrea Fernando, a B.C. Registered Clinical Counsellor and Canadian Certified Counsellor with a Master’s degree from Yorkville University, NB. My therapy styles are shaped by the perspective of environmental and intergenerational trauma and catered to the needs of the vulnerable inner child. I incorporate the science of psychology from my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from York University, ON. I bring a deep passion for supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges. You are not alone! I am all ears!
With years of working in a special needs childcare center, I helped numerous parents understand the needs of their neurodivergent children and prevented family conflicts. I also recognized that having a safe and non-judgmental space is crucial to individuals' psychological well-being. This urges me to prioritize the importance of mental health care and meaningful conversations that inspire healing. When I help children, families, and adults facing anxiety, depression, stress and other mental health challenges, I take a holistic, person-centered approach to create a safe, empathetic, and judgment-free space. Whether supporting children in developing emotional resilience or helping families strengthen connections, I focus on fostering growth and well-being.
I draw from evidence-based methods like CBT, SFBT and humanistic approaches to help clients gain self-awareness, navigate challenges, and set meaningful goals. I believe that healing happens through strong, trusting relationships, and I work collaboratively with clients to empower positive change.
Outside of work, I love exploring new places, trying out different foods, and finding creative ways like dance, baking, henna art and karaoke to recharge and stay grounded.
